Event's objectives

Every child can learn, but no child has exactly the same learning needs. See how EMPOWER's science is uncovering the brain basis of how children learn differently. We will demonstrate how every child's brain has a unique personal rhythm for processing information. We will explain how human brains are built to form social connections with other brains, and how this neural connection determines how and what we learn from social partners, including parents and teachers. Discover how this new science is powering tools for neuropersonalised learning at home and in the classroom, and leading to earlier and deeper insights into children's developing mental potential.

EMPOWER will showcase three key projects:

Exhibit 1: " Science of Learning "

  • Identifies neural hallmarks of effective teacher–child interactions that shape executive function development and school readiness in both typically developing children and those at risk for ASD or ADHD.

Exhibit 2: "Brain Beats: Rhythms of Learning "

  • Advance digital learning through live, contingent interaction studies and a personalised avatar that mitigates the “video deficit” for young learners.

Exhibit 3: "The Playpod Technology "

  • Highlights the Playpod project, a community-based, scalable screening tool from the Wellcome LEAP 1kD programme and Temasek Foundation, designed to support healthy infant brain development through accessible, play-based assessments and early identification of developmental needs.

Target audience

The event is specially designed for faculty, pre-university and university students, but is open to anyone with an interest in psychology, neuroscience, behavioural science, technology for child development, public policy, or social impact.

Note: Visitors are welcome to come and go at any time within the exhibition timings. Please be informed that each exhibit has limited capacity, so brief waiting times may occur.
