"Defects Activity in Metal Halide Perovskites"

Metal halide perovskites make an appealing material platform for a new generation optoelectronic technology. One superior feature is their tunable bandgap by designing the chemical composition of the crystalline unit. In this lecture I will assess the most recent advances in elucidating the photochemistry of defects related to the chemical composition of the perovskite crystalline unit. I will show how they define the charge carrier dynamics in the semiconductor. Based on such understanding I will discuss the main electrical and spectroscopic features related to the activity of defects and how to exploit them to improve the figures of merit of optoelectronic devices and their stability.

About the speaker

Annamaria Petrozza leads the “Advanced Materials for Optoelectronics” group at the Italian Institute of Technology and she is the Director of the Center for Nano Science and Technology.  She got the “Innovators Under 35 Italy 2014” award by the MIT Technology Review for her pioneering work on perovskites. In 2022 she was awarded “The Innovation in Materials Characterization Award” by the MRS. Since 2023 she has been a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
