Speaker's Biography

Dr. Veronica Yan is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. She directs the Science of Learning and Metacognition (SLAM) Lab, where she researches how students can become more effective, self-regulated learners. A leading expert on "Desirable Difficulties", Dr. Yan's work shows that embracing struggle with evidence-based strategies like retrieval practice is the key to maximizing long-term memory and mastering any subject.
