China is not the only Asian power looking for minerals, market, and influence in Africa. The past decade has seen a surge of investment and deal-making activity from India and Japan as well. All three Asian powers are short of energy and critical minerals. They are also in search for new markets and partnerships. As the era of an open global trading order is replaced by a fragmented one Africa is being coveted by Asia mostly for its rich natural resources and consumer base. But does geopolitics has something to do with it as well?
