The Scholarly Communication & Impact seminar aims to equip new graduate students to enter the scholarly world. Participants will be introduced to the concepts of what scholarly metrics they would typically encounter as researchers such as Open Research requirements, developing their researcher persona and useful Library Tools and Services.

This workshop will be conducted in Team-Based Learning (TBL) format where participants will be expected to watch a pre-seminar video and explore additional resources before the session, which will be used to answer questions and solve problems both individually and as a team during the session.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the key scholarly metrics to distinguish impactful researchers, journals and papers for academic writing.
  2. Apply the appropriate and relevant library tool to obtain scholarly materials for research.
  3. Interpret significance of FAIR principles as it applies to research in the academic world.
