Terms and Conditions

By registering for and/or attending the Singapore Bioscience Symposium 2026 (“SBS 2026” or “the Symposium”), participants agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
1. General
SBS 2026 is hosted by the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, co-organized with the Society for Cell Biology Singapore, and supported by the IAS Conference Series.
The organisers reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions, the symposium programme, speakers, venue arrangements, registration details, and related information where necessary. Any major changes will be communicated through the symposium website and/or by email where appropriate.
2. Registration
All participants are required to complete registration through the official SBS 2026 registration platform. Registration is confirmed only upon successful submission of the registration form and receipt of payment, where applicable.
Participants are responsible for ensuring that the information submitted during registration is accurate and complete. The organisers will not be responsible for issues arising from incorrect or incomplete registration details.
Registration categories, fees, deadlines, and entitlements are stated on the official SBS 2026 website. The organisers reserve the right to verify eligibility for discounted registration categories, including student rates.
3. Payment
Registration fees must be paid according to the instructions provided on the registration page. All fees are stated in Singapore Dollars unless otherwise indicated.
Registration is not considered confirmed until payment has been successfully received. The organisers reserve the right to cancel unpaid or incomplete registrations after the stated payment deadline.
Any bank charges, currency conversion fees, or administrative charges incurred during payment shall be borne by the participant.
4. Cancellation, Refunds, and Substitutions
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to the SBS 2026 Secretariat at sbs-symposium@ntu.edu.sg.
Suggested refund structure:
Cancellations received before 10 December 2026: 50% refund, less any administrative or transaction fees.
Cancellations received after 10 December 2026 (10 December 2026 onwards): No refund.
Refunds are subjected to review on a case-by-case basis. Refunds, where approved, will be processed after the symposium or according to the administrative timeline of the organisers.
Substitution of participants may be allowed at the discretion of the organisers, provided that the request is submitted in writing before 30 November 2026. Any difference in registration category or fee must be settled before the substitution is confirmed.
Non-attendance does not constitute cancellation and will not be eligible for a refund.
5. Programme Changes
The organisers will make reasonable efforts to deliver the symposium as published. However, the programme, speakers, session timings, venue arrangements, and format may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
The organisers reserve the right to amend, postpone, or cancel any part of the symposium where necessary. In the event of major changes, participants will be informed as soon as reasonably possible.
The organisers shall not be liable for any costs incurred by participants due to programme changes, including travel, accommodation, visa, or other related expenses.
6. Abstract Submission
Participants submitting abstracts are responsible for ensuring that all submitted information is accurate, original, and approved by all relevant authors and institutions.
Abstracts must comply with the submission guidelines stated on the SBS 2026 registration. The organisers reserve the right to reject, edit, withdraw, or reclassify abstracts that do not meet the required guidelines, are submitted after the deadline, or are deemed unsuitable for presentation.
Submission of an abstract does not guarantee acceptance for oral or poster presentation. The final decision on abstract acceptance, presentation format, and scheduling rests with the organising committee.
By submitting an abstract, authors grant the organisers permission to include the abstract title, author names, affiliations, and abstract text in symposium materials, including the programme booklet, website, abstract book, and related communications.
7. Presentation and Conduct
All participants, speakers, presenters, sponsors, and exhibitors are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner throughout the symposium.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse admission, remove participants, or take appropriate action against any individual whose behaviour is disruptive, inappropriate, unsafe, or inconsistent with the values of a respectful academic environment.
Presenters are responsible for ensuring that their presentation materials do not infringe copyright, confidentiality obligations, institutional policies, or third-party rights.
8. Photography, Videography, and Recording
Photography, videography, and/or audio recording may take place during SBS 2026 for documentation, publicity, reporting, and archival purposes.
By attending the symposium, participants acknowledge that they may appear in photographs, videos, or recordings taken during the event, and that such materials may be used by the organisers in symposium-related communications, reports, websites, social media, and promotional materials.
Participants who do not wish to be photographed or recorded should inform the SBS 2026 Secretariat in writing before the event or approach the registration desk during the symposium.
Unauthorised recording of presentations, posters, or unpublished research materials is not permitted unless prior permission has been obtained from the presenter and/or organisers.
9. Personal Data
Personal data collected during registration, abstract submission, and symposium participation may be used for purposes related to the organisation and administration of SBS 2026. These may include registration processing, payment administration, abstract review, communication with participants, preparation of symposium materials, event reporting, and post-event follow-up.
Personal data may be shared with authorised parties involved in the organisation of SBS 2026, where necessary for the purposes stated above.
Personal data will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection requirements and relevant NTU policies. Participants may refer to the NTU Privacy Statement for further information.
10. Sponsors and Exhibitors
Sponsors and exhibitors participating in SBS 2026 must comply with the guidelines and instructions provided by the organisers.
The inclusion of sponsor or exhibitor names, logos, materials, or booths does not imply endorsement of any products, services, or claims by the organisers, NTU, SCBS, or the IAS Conference Series.
Sponsors and exhibitors are responsible for ensuring that their materials comply with applicable laws, institutional policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
11. Travel, Visa, and Accommodation
Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel, visa, insurance, and accommodation, unless otherwise stated.
The organisers are not responsible for any costs incurred due to travel disruptions, visa issues, personal circumstances, illness, or other matters outside the organisers’ control.
Participants travelling from overseas are advised to check entry requirements for Singapore well in advance of the symposium.
12. Health, Safety, and Liability
Participants are expected to comply with all venue rules, safety instructions, and applicable health guidelines during the symposium.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the organisers shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, delay, or expense incurred by participants in connection with their attendance at SBS 2026, except where such liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Participants are encouraged to arrange appropriate travel, medical, and personal insurance where necessary.
13. Intellectual Property
All symposium materials, including presentations, abstracts, posters, images, videos, logos, and written content, remain the property of their respective authors, presenters, institutions, organisers, or copyright holders.
Participants may not reproduce, distribute, record, publish, or share symposium materials without prior permission from the relevant rights holder.
