Are you even needed anymore when AI can spit out a "critical" essay before your coffee gets cold?
Spoiler: Yes. But it means we need to get real about what critical thinking actually is — and it's messier (and more interesting) than "be logical, cite your sources, don't be biased."
This isn't a lecture on how to write a good argument and solve problems. It is an interactive 2-part workshop where we will figure out what critical thinking should mean to us, and who gets to decide, before three years of essays, group projects, and late night existential crises demand an answer from us. We’ll also discuss other questions such as:
- What are the implications of Gen AI for critical thinking?
- What does critical thinking mean?
- Why be critical in the first place?
- How might we exercise criticality with GenAI in higher education?
