Public Transport

  • Most areas of the city are well connected by MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) trains (see the map here) and public buses.
  • Public transport fares can be paid using contactless credit/debit cards (Visa or Mastercard; an administrative processing fee of 0.60 SGD applies for non-local cards) or local transit cards such as EZ-Link and Singapore Tourist Pass. More information can be found here.
  • Eating or drinking is not allowed on public transport.

Taxis

  • Taxis are metered, and surcharges may vary with timing, route and choice of service used. On weekdays, there is a 25% surcharge from 06:00 to 09:29 and from 17:00 to 23:59. On all days, there is a 50% surcharge from 00:00 to 05:59.
  • Ride hailing applications available in Singapore let you book a ride from your preferred pick-up point to your desired destination. Common options include ComfortDelGro (a taxi operator), Grab and Gojek. Note that Uber currently does not operate in Singapore.
